After days of digging, I finally found the song that plays during the KIA Forte 2014;s TV commercial, with the Respect The Tech tag-line. Its this kick ass techno, electronic or trance (is there even a damn difference?) tune. It’s a very obscure track though, it can’t be found on Youtube and no one knows it’s name. It wasn’t until I asked about it at the Kia Motors America Facebook page that I finally got a damn answer. Man, I love it. Anyway, here’s the commercial:
The song’s name is Silverfish and it is performed by Black Iris Music. The original version can be downloaded for free here:
Sucks though since the original version is only 1:31 minutes long and only stays awesome for about the first 50 seconds, from there it kind of gets lame in my opinion. I’ve got audio editing software and so I looped the song and edited it a bit more to my liking. Needless to say, I fucking love this track.
I watched The Tortured on Showtime last night. It’s a film about a boy who is abducted, tortured and then killed. The boy’s parents then hatch an ingeniously unrealistic plan to kidnap the killer as he’s whisked away to prison, torture him as he did their son and then finally, kill him.
But before this whole plot even gets to the planning stage, the wife (I forget their names) asks her husband to help her buy a gun. He knew she wanted to extract revenge and tried to talk her out of it saying something like, “why would you stoop down to his level?”.
The guy killed your fucking son. How could you NOT want to do the same to him? I see this stupid shit in movies way too often and it never jives with me. It’s like the writers are just trying to be all pseudo-intellectual-like.
I want to cock slap Rachel Dawes (Katie Holmes) in Batman Begins everytime I watch the scene where they’re in the car, and she slaps the shit out of Bruce for bringing a gun, intending to kill Joe Chill.
No Rachel Bitch Dawes, there really is no fucking difference between justice and revenge.
What the hell is the difference between a vigilante killing the dude who killed his parents.
vs
The legal system making a parade of the murder in a trial and then sentencing him to death?
Both arrive at the same conclusion, but the first saves everyone a hell of a lot of tax dollars and gets rid of the problem quicker. Gah! I’m glad that bitch got blown to hell in The Dark Knight. Annoying cunt!
Back to The Tortured: A good revenge flick always gets ruined when the final twist is that the person being revenged on is not the right person at all. That’s what happens in The Tortured, or at least I think it is. Honestly, that final sequence was confusing. We see the guy leave the truck, but then he hangs himself near the cabin where they were torturing the child killer, leaving a note apologizing etc. I still don’t know what happened. The torture sessions were great gore porn but still, Fuck that movie.
I have to be honest. I didn’t expect much going in, but man did this video blow my mind. Its amazing what a person, or in this case a team, can accomplish when they get together and pour all their energy into something. I’m a pretty patient guy, but I don’t know if even I would be willing to sit through a year working on an animation like this. There are so many details that have to be noted, that I can only imagine how hard it must’ve been for these guys. That’s just the animation side of it, the voice work is also pretty darn good for the most part, aside from a few awkward sections. The voice actors for Sasuke and Kakashi both sound nearly identical to their official English dub counterparts. This is awesome stuff, so if you are at all a fan of Naruto, watch this video.
I’d like to use this blog posting for two things today. 1 is to introduce PSP homebrew noobs to prxplugin. It’s a newish plugin (its been out for some time but I’ve only recently discovered it) developed for the PSP and it allows you to take screenshots of your PSP’s screen, whether you’re playing a game or running some app. You may be saying to yourself, “but there already are many screenshot plugins for PSP”, and while that’s true, none of them are like this one. Other screenshot plugins forcibly pause your game, and force you to wait several seconds while saving the picture. Not PRXPlugin. While playing, you can quickly press the Note button and then resume playing while the picture is saved. Needless to say, I’m loving it.
If you’d like to take screenshots of your own, just download PRXShot from HERE. Be sure to follow the installation instructions carefully.
The other thing I’d like to do is show off some of the screenshots that I took with PRXPlugin a few days ago.
Below you will find a gallery of screenies I took of the 2010 PSP game, Dragon Ball Z: Tenkaichi Tag Team.
As a long time fan of Tupac Shakur, I’ve had years to devour the many songs he released while living, and those that were released posthumously by Amaru records.
Tupac’s catalog of music was often blasted by critics for being needlessly violent and misogynistic. In many cases I can do nothing but agree, not just in regards to Tupac’s music, but also rap in general. That is one reason I’ve had what you can consider a “falling out” with the Hip-Hop music genre. I can only list a handful of rappers that I still listen to. Tupac is one of them primarily because some of his music could touch you on a personal level. He wasn’t the “50 Cent” of the mid-90s. He wasn’t all macho-braggadocio like today’s rap contemporaries. Despite his claims to the “Thug Life” and other gang affiliations, every one of his albums contain songs that anybody can relate to.
The coming list of songs will include some fan-favorites, and others that you may not have heard, but that have left long-lasting impressions on me. The majority of these songs have shamefully gone under the radar, overshadowed by their more popular and violent cousins like 2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted and Hit’Em Up.
Without further adieu, let’s begin:
10: Better Dayz – Tupac says in Better Dayz, “I’d love to see the block in peace with no more dealers and crooked cops”. He continues, “and only we can change. It’s up to us to clean up the streets that ain’t the same”. Better Dayz is one of those mellow songs where Tupac speaks on the violence that plagues the black community, his own relationships, friendships and other things.
9: Brenda’s Got A Baby – This is a song that has stayed with me since the very first moment that I heard it. It’s the first great record from Tupac’s discography. Brenda’s Got A Baby is a metaphorical song. Brenda, the fictional African-American girl spoken of in this song, represents the many immature teenage girls who, through unfortunate circumstances, have been burdened with a pregnancy they did not want or could not handle. The song’s resolution is a sad reminder of what has happened to many girls in such a situation.
8.) Still I Rise – You may find the title familiar. That’s because it was named after a poem by the world-renowned Maya Angelou. Although Tupac only has a single verse in this song, it is the singular moment of the entire song. Tupac eloquently expresses his anger, “this cruel world could do without me”. “The lord can’t see us in the deep dark clouds of the projects. Ain’t no sunshine. No sunny days and we only play sometimes”.
7.) Young N—-z – Don’t let the title turn you off. Young N—-z is actually a song where Tupac advises the younger generation to stay away from the gang life. If only songs like this were more prevalent, instead of the more common gang-glamorizing music that you’re more likely to hear.
6.) Hell Razor – This is one of the more intense records in Tupac’s catalog. It may not fit in with the rest of the songs on this list. I’ve included it because it is a great showcase of Tupac’s intensity, especially toward the end of the song where he raps about Latasha Harlins. She was a young black girl who was shot and killed by a Korean shop-owner, after she allegedly attempted to steal a bottle of juice. This incident was also a pre-cursor to the 1992 Los Angeles riots, which in my view were completely and utterly useless. They caused nothing but death and destruction.
5.) Papa’z Song – If you grew up without a father in your life, like I did, then this song is for you. In Papa’z Song, 2pac and company express the anger laden within fatherless youths of all creeds.
4.)Keep Ya Head Up – When this song released in 1993, people started to realize that Tupac wasn’t just another rapper. There was something different about him. In Keep Ya Head Up, Tupac discusses a range of issues including the black communities’ disparities, but most notably, the hardships that black women are subjected to.
3.) Krazy – This is the best song on this list in terms of mood. It is very slow and laid back. In Krazy, Tupac reflects on many events in his life, “and I swear I seen a peaceful smile on my mama’s face when I gave her the keys to her own house”.
2.) Dear Mama – Not much can be said about this song that hasn’t been said already. Dear Mama is to Tupac what Dance With My Father is to Luther Vandross.
1.) Thugz Mansion – “Is there a way to change or am I just a victim of things I did to maintain?” That’s a powerful question that Tupac asked in Thugz Mansion. Only Tupac knows if he ever found the answer to that question before he was shot to death in September of 1996. Thugz Mansion also happens to be where it all began for me. By that I mean it was the first Tupac record that I heard. It left such an impression on me years ago, but I hadn’t even heard of Tupac at the time. Since then, I’ve collected every single one of Tupac’s official albums. The rest is history.
I ultimately believe that in behaving the way that he did in 1996, which subsequently led to his own demise, Tupac wasted his potential. These 10 songs signify not only how different he was from the common rapper, but also how much more he could have done. He was a genuinely good person who chose the wrong path, and in the end he paid the ultimate price.
Isha Sesay is the total package. She’s got the looks, intelligence, and a sexy British accent to boot. You can catch her on CNN every night with Anderson Cooper.
You may know Zoe from her new movie, Colombiana where she takes the role of a kick ass assassin. You might also remember her from that one film where she played a blue alien. I can’t quiiiite put my finger on it. I think it was called Avasomething… ah well
and now in the red corner
Rosario Dawson
Rosario Dawson starred alongside Denzel Washington in Unstoppable, and with Will Smith in Seven Pounds.
So cast your vote. Who do you think is hotter between Zoe Saldana and Rosario Dawson?
You’re free to agree or disagree, but in my view Julianne Hough’s beauty is unparalleled. Thousands of years of human evolution has brought us this specimen. A true example of womanly perfection. (Satire for the dumbshits)
Kate Del Castillo is the hot topic around Spanish media as of late due to her new series, La Reina Del Sur (The Queen of The South) where she plays Teresa Mendosa, a capo, drug smuggler, whatever… Anyway, like 99% of all soap operas, La Reina Del Sur is total crap minus one detail; Kate Del Castillo. She is such a hot taco that I force myself to sit through the show every now and again.
Dragon Ball Z first began as a serialized Japanese manga which was later adapted to anime. A manga is a comic book in the Japanese format. They’re most commonly done in black and white, while Western comics are fully colored. Even today, more than a decade after it’s completion, Dragon Ball remains one of the most popular and beloved anime series across the world. Because of it’s length and immense popularity, it would be incredibly difficult to narrow down the 5 greatest scenes in the Dragon Ball Z anime. There are far too many. These 5 however, are some of the most talked about in Dragon Ball Z fan sites
Starting off the list is none other than:
5.) A New Super Saiyan: Trunks’ Arrival:
The arrival of Trunks signaled the beginning of a new era in Dragon Ball Z, and new foe/s for our protagonists to battle. Trunks’ grand entrance was arguably one of the best in the series. Armed with his sword, he quickly did away with the monster that is Frieza and his father, King Cold, with characteristically Saiyan mercilessness. Frieza, prior to Trunks’ appearance, was an evil tyrant bent on dominating the universe before he was defeated by Goku on Planet Namek. However, Frieza survived even after Namek exploded, and traveled to Earth seeking revenge. The same could not be said of Goku, who failed to return to Earth after the battle and was presumed dead.
4.) Tien vs Cell: David & Goliath:
At one point in the Dragon Ball mythos, Tenshinhan, better known to American viewers as Tien, was a powerful adversary of Goku’s. Somewhere along the line, however, after the Saiyans gained prominence, Tien, Yamcha and others were brushed aside and made into throw away characters. So it was a surprising twist to see Tien keep his own against Cell, an enemy who was previously unbeatable even by the strongest Super Saiyans. Tien could not beat him, of course, but he was in possession of a technique so strong that not even the mighty Cell could successfully counter it. Tien’s bravery gave Androids 18 and 16 enough time to escape consumption. Cell regained his composure only after the technique’s after-effects rendered Tien unconscious.
3.) Majin Vegeta: Vegeta Returns To His Evil Roots:
After his defeat at the hands of Goku and the other Z-warriors on Earth, Vegeta returned home defeated and humiliated. Soon after, to aid in the fight against Frieza and his henchmen on Namek, Vegeta reluctantly joined his former Earthling enemies. Proceeding the epic battle with Frieza and the subsequent fight against the Androids, Vegeta settled down on Earth with Bulma, his love interest and Trunks, his son. Although he now lived the life of an Earthling, a deep seeded hatred and jealousy of Goku’s skill (which surpassed his own) still remained within him, and eventually he could bare it no longer. During the first World Tournament after the fight with Cell, Vegeta allowed himself to be entranced by the evil Sorcerer Babidi’s magic. Babidi’s spell brings out the evil malice laying dormant in every person and amplifies it. After falling for this spell, Vegeta exterminated nearly everyone seated at the World Martial Arts Tournament stadium. This allowed Vegeta to once again become the monstrous brute he once was, and thus forced Goku to fight him again.
2.) Goku vs Frieza: The Super Saiyan 1 Transformation:
The fight with Frieza took Goku to the breaking point. At first, Frieza could have defeated Goku with little to no effort at all. That’s how big the power difference was. In true heroic fashion, and despite the overwhelming odds, Goku would not give up. Mid-way through the battle he gathered enough natural power to form a Spirit Bomb so large, that when confronted with it, Frieza could do nothing but try to overpower it, which he could not. The Spirit Bomb was strong enough to take Frieza down. Believing that Frieza’s reign of terror was finally over, Goku and the others celebrated briefly, until the all too real figure of a familiar enemy emerged. Frieza was alive, visibly hurt, and very angry. He wasted no time in delivering punishment, and Piccolo was the first to go down. Next was Krillin, whom Frieza levitated using telekinetic powers. Krillin’s chest expanded, then his body violently exploded. Gohan was the next to go, threatened Frieza. By this point, Goku was in a fury-induced trance unlike any we had ever seen him in before. Even in the presence of death, it was uncharacteristic for Goku to lose his cool. It simply goes to show what a terrifying menace Frieza was. This trance-like state of fury ended when Goku abruptly let his anger explode, transforming himself into the warrior of Saiyan myths, the Super Saiyan.
1.) Gohan vs Cell: The Super Saiyan 2 Transformation:
At the beginning of the series, Gohan was a frail and timid young boy who housed enormous power within his small stature. He was not in control of it however, and it only appeared in short bursts when he was angered. During the battle with Raditz, Goku’s older brother, neither Goku nor Piccolo could harm him. When he saw his father being tormented at the hands of his captor, Gohan blacked out, destroyed his pod of confinement and delivered a devastating attack that slowed Raditz down substantially. Such examples of Gohan’s raw power were frequent throughout the Dragon Ball Z story, but none were as potent as the one which would decide the fate of Planet Earth during the fight against Cell. Goku failed to defeat Cell and forfeited, naming his son, Gohan, as Cell’s next competitor. Gohan kept up with Cell but did not fight back. Fighting was not in his nature, he said to Cell, but he knew why his father wanted him to fight. Goku knew that Gohan’s hidden power would overwhelm Cell if it were to emerge, but Gohan had no interest in it. This gave Cell an idea. He was eager for a challenge, and if he were to entice Gohan’s hidden power out of hiding, Cell could very well get what he desired. He did so first by tormenting Gohan physically, and when that failed, Cell set his eyes on Gohan’s friends. His henchmen, who were all nearly as powerful as he himself was, were sent to battle the Z-warriors. They stood no chance against Cell’s formidable off-spring. Suddenly, the head of the destroyed Android 16 appeared before Gohan and relayed to him some much needed words of encouragement. Cell then destroyed Android 16, and this was Gohan’s breaking point. The transformation to Super Saiyan 2 was quick and intense, while also drastically changing Gohan’s character. Prior to this event he was a pacifist, now he was as ruthless as Frieza and reveled in his opponent’s suffering.
