Infidel Heaven

To dispel any curiosity regarding this new page, which I titled Infidel Heaven, let me start off by  stating my position on the matter. I am an atheist by definition, I do not believe in God. I also fall under the category of agnostic-atheist in that though I do not believe in a deity, I must admit that there is a possibility, however miniscule it may be, that there may indeed be some sort of being that could be termed God. In other words, I don’t know and the current arguments in favor of God are not convincing enough to turn me. That is the only logical conclusion because there is no evidence in favor of the existence of any God, whether it is Yahweh, or Zeus. It is the same position a person would take concerning any of the aforementioned; Bigfoot, Lochness Monster, UFOs that visit Earth from alien worlds. You can say you don’t believe the evidence for any of these, if there even is any, but you cannot with 100% certainty rule them out of existence. That is my position on God.

For me to ever believe in God again would require an event so spectacularly big that there would be no room left for doubt.

Over the years, I’ve joined several discussion forums (Boxden, AboveTopSecret etc.) and debated others on the topic of religion, the existence of God etc. I have collected several of these “debates” to reproduce on Infidel Heaven, mostly because I’d hate to see my  thought-out written responses be wiped away if, for some unfortunate circumstance, the sites which host them are closed down.

Here is my long-winded reply to religion and God: Why I Don’t Believe In Religion or God. It is an article I wrote several years ago explaining why I do not believe in any deity. I cleaned up some of the language but it is, for the most part, unchanged.

My replies will be in normal text. Adversaries will be bolded and in quotation boxes.

This is my exchange with several people in a topic regarding the recent exposure of the Church of Scientology’s child slave camp:

DV: Your stating your opinion which is fine.
The bible is archaic??? Gimmie a break
If you were to follow the bible in a literal sense than yes. But who is going to go kill there own son in the name of god???
The bible is about the “message” it brings.

Isn’t that a contradiction? You won’t follow the bible but you will accept its message? Then again, who are you to say what the bible is about? Who made you the authority?

What’s the message behind killing your own son? What is the message behind labeling an entire group of people abominations? What is the message behind killing every single person, save for a few, on the planet?

Atheists love to take literal parts of the bible to poke holes in other peoples views. The problem is that only works if the people take the bible literally.

The bible is a collection of stories that symbolize life lessons. It means different things to different people.

We have the King James versions of the bible. Who the fu*k is King James and why is it his version? See what I mean?

That’s why there are so many non-denominational Christians. There is a major difference between being spiritual and religious.

I consider myself a Christian but not religious.

Most people seem to do just that, take the bible seriously. They believe that the world-wide flood happened, in the talking snake, and that Jesus was killed and came back 3 days later.

My perception of God and religion is the same as that of the majority who believe in God and follow religion, obviously, since I am arguing against such beliefs.

How do you view God?

  1. Outer Heaven. . . Infidel Heaven. . . you may not believe in God but you certainly have caught that wind of Metal Gear. . . an alternative ‘Heaven’ for soldiers! I’ll be prayin for ya! That picture of the PSP with Jesus on it, did you draw that? Never seen anything like it before.

  2. LOL this guy definitely follows Penn Jillette, watches his videos, or reads his book. Otherwise it’s just extreme quiescence that he refers to all of Penn Jillettes points of atheism..
